Dear Conference Participant:

First of all, on behalf of the GIF and GFP2P Executive Commitees, we extend a warm welcome to you as attendees of the 2 nd  France-Italy Symposium on Photosciences.

This joint meeting, at Marseille, provides an open, interdisciplinary forum for attendees to share their latest work in all areas of fundamental and applied photochemistry and photophysics, and related science. For our scientific community, this is a new opportunity for networking and informally exchanging information. It covers four days, and includes six plenary lectures, keynote lectures and oral communications. Two poster sessions will also be organized to enable PhD students and researchers as well as equipment manufacturers to present their data and products.

More than 130 scientists from 10 countries showed their interest to participate in FISPHOTON 2009 and submitted the abstracts of their presentations. However, some colleagues due to administrative, logistics and visa issues will not be able to join us in this meeting. Nevertheless, we have included the abstracts of their contributions also in the Abstract Book to update the photoscience research community with the research work of those colleagues.  More than 85 presentations are planned.

The oldest city in France founded by Phocean Greeks has always been a meeting place of ideas, races and civilisations, an extremely lively cosmopolitan city. We hope that you ‘ll find time to take advantage of the many social and cultural events in Marseille. There is much to enjoy in Marseille and in neighbouring countryside, numerous places of interest.

We are doing our best to make your participation in FISPHOTON 2009 and stay at Marseille fruitful and comfortable. Please do not hesitate to contact local organizing committee for any help/assistance, you need.

We hope you find the symposium interesting, enjoyable and re-energising.
